Wedding Parties of up to 50 in the House

Up to 50 people can be accommodated for a Ceremony and seated Wedding Breakfast within the house itself. The panelled Drawing Room with its delicate pink brick vaulting and vast faded damask curtains, provides a serene and elegant setting for the Ceremony. A log fire will be blazing to bring cheer to a dull day and candlelit Ceremonies are popular in the winter. The Champagne reception is held either inside or on the South Terrace and the Wedding Breakfast follows guests being seated beneath the soaring stone arches of the Great Hall. A pianist or jazz trio at the grand piano often accompany the celebrations.

Wedding parties of up to 120 in the House & Marquee

We are licensed for up to 90 people to attend a Marriage Ceremony in the Great Hall. After the Marriage a Champagne Reception is held either inside or on the South Terrace while photography is taking place. The Wedding Breakfast is then served in our beautiful Marquee situated on the Croquet Lawn. Here further guests may join the party where 120 people can be seated. The setting is unique in its tranquillity and privacy, with only lawns and woodlands as far as the eye can see; the ornate facade of the Priory itself provides a fabulous floodlit backdrop to the festivities. Flaming torches illuminate the courtyard and driveway.

Wedding Co-ordination

One of our experienced Wedding Co-ordinators will be on hand to help you as much or as little as required, to ensure that your wedding day at Butley Priory is a serene and stress free experience from start to end, and lives up to your wildest dreams! Once you have decided on holding your wedding with us, we suggest that we hold an initial planning meeting where we can discuss your specific requirements in detail, and offer help if desired with the following:

The Wedding Breakfast
Our in-house caterer comes with the best references; former clients have included Laurence Llewellyn Bowen, Griff Rhys Jones and the Palmer Tomkinsons. They will attend the initial meeting, and can offer a wealth of experience from their many years in the business. Tastings at your home can also be arranged.

Wine List
We are fully licensed and offer a good range of wines and champagnes, with wine prices starting from £10.00 +VAT per bottle. We are happy to arrange tastings.

Flowers
You are welcome to invite your own florists, or we can highly recommend two professional florists with whom we work regularly, who would also be happy to meet you at Butley to discuss options with you.

Photography
Carefully selected, our creative photographers are familiar with Butley Priory and would be happy to meet you here, or you may of course choose to arrange for photography independently.

Musicians
You may choose to arrange your own music, or we would be happy to help you from our extensive list of contacts including pianists, string quartets, a harpist, jazz trios, party bands or DJs.
