Tucked away in the forests and heath lands of Suffolk's Heritage Coast lies one of East Anglia's best kept secrets, a wild and fantastic location called Butley Priory. Originally an Augustinian Monastery (dating back to 1171) it now provides an incomparable wedding and event venue, with superbly comfortable accommodation. No other venue can offer such beauty, history, glamour and romance!
We can offer either an intimate Winter Wedding with blazing log fires and candles, or a dreamy Summer affair with champagne on the lawn and a feast served in our fairytale marquee. We specialise in providing an individual service for individual people.
Butley Priory is a privately owned family house, which means that the whole house / cottage and grounds are available on an exclusive use basis, giving you complete privacy and we hope the feeling of being 'at home'. It has a fascinating history and we feel that something of the serenity and peace of those far off days still remains here.
We have outlined our most usually requested options on this site, but if you have something different in mind please ask and we will be very happy to do an individual quote for you. Prices are for Venue Hire and do not include catering or the Registrar's fee.
All prices (with the exception of our 'Ceremony only' and 5 hour option packages) do include a Honeymoon Suite for two nights complete with flowers and a complimentary bottle of champagne, 3 luxury bedrooms in the main house for two nights, the exclusive use of the gardens, grounds and ground floor of the Priory for the number of hours mentioned, as well as all banqueting furniture and table linen.
Where applicable, the price includes fully lined marquee carpeted and floored throughout and complete with 2 chandeliers, candles for the dining tables, dance floor, and (very posh) portaloos. All options also include the services of our very helpful and experienced wedding planner, Natalie.
The best way to experience the atmosphere of Butley Priory is to come and visit. Whilst having an unmistakable grandeur, it is still informal and welcoming. May we point out that as well as offering accommodation and event facilities, Butley Priory is a private family house and not open to the public.
